What I wish I knew Before Going to Disneyland’s Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge

For all those people out there who have dressed up as Princess Leah or a Wookie, anyone who has dreamed of flying the Millennium Falcon, even those who just enjoy saying, “Luke, I am your father” in a athsmatic voice, this place is for you! The new Star Wars land in Disneyland known as “Galaxy’s Edge” is a dream come true for many of us who are dedicated fans of Lucas Films. It can get a little confusing navigating between rebels and the First Order but I picked up some tips (potentially from Rebel Scum) on our last trip to the park. Here is what I wish I knew before setting foot into the land of lightsabers.

You Can Decode a Secret Language: Batuu Arubesh

For those earthlings who are totally in the know, you can walk around Star Wars land decoding secret messages everywhere! The language is called Arubesh and it originates on Batuu. Drinking fountains even have warnings in this language that the water is not meant for human consumption. Pin or print the photo below to decode all secrets and show off your cultural awareness!

Watch out for the Crazy Line at Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

As of right now, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is the newest ride in Disneyland. It takes you in a droid operated vehicle through an immersive battle between The Resistance and the First Order. The ride itself is exciting and entertaining as you drive through scenes featuring familiar characters.

The biggest obstacle I want to discuss here is how the heck to get on this ride. They are actually putting people into “virtual queues” which are groups with assigned times to ride. The easiest way to get into the virtual queue is to get the Disneyland App. I talk all about the app and how to use it in THIS POST. If you have the app, you can login once you are within Disneyland park and get into the queue. There are also places within the park where you can join the queue but the app makes things much easier and faster. Many groups do not get called to go in at all within the day but Disneyland says to stay nearby in case they can add people in at the last minute. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run Ride is One of Disneyland’s Best

This is my favorite ride in Galaxy’s Edge for sure! The first thing I like is that they have a single riders line. My husband and I always go for single rider options when we separate from the kids. We found that when you enter the single rider line area, choose the line to the right. It goes faster for some reason. Also, even though we went through single rider, when it came down to getting on the ride they put us together anyways! I don’t know if this will be a continuous thing or if it’s just that the force is strong with us but either way, it was great.

When you get to the front of the line, they assign you a “career” card. I wanted to be a pilot (obviously) but was assigned as an engineer. I learned that all the jobs are actually pretty cool. You are essentially riding in the Millennium Falcon and navigating through dangers/ things breaking/ running out of fuel and so on through the whole experience. You get to push lighted buttons or “steer” which adds to the fun. This is a ride that I’m adding to my top ten at Disneyland/ California Adventure.

Even the queues Is pure Star Wars excitement as you truly feel like you are on board a spaceship.

Make a Star Wars Land Plan Before Setting Foot in the Park

Most people traveling to Disneyland right now are partially if not fully going to see the new Star Wars land. The lines are bananas. I will say that the line for Millennium Flacon: Smugglers Run is way shorter than when it first opened. Currently the craziest line is for the newest ride, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Also, if you want to get into Olga’s Cantina, make reservations ahead of time. (More on that below.)

The Food and Drinks are Amazing

From Blue milk to a Tatooine Sunset, the drinks are fantastic in Galaxy’s Edge. They have truly thought of everything in this land and you can see it in the details such as clever names and types of food and drink. We ate at a couple spots but our favorite was Ronto Roasters. You can recognize it because there are various meats roasting near a pod racer engine and bodies of strange looking creatures hanging from the ceiling. It may sound strange but is actually pretty cool. I loved my sausage wrap with cabbage. It was just enough to keep me going strong but not so much that I felt sick on rides.

Olga’s Cantina is a Bar with No Food

Olga’s Cantina is a bar. At first we thought it was a bar and restaurant so we made reservations on the Disneyland app. We got to the cantina at our time only to discover that it is just the time to get into the long line outside the cantina. When we realized that there was no food inside, my hangry family and I decided to skip it and go eat at Docking Bay 7. If you do like the bar feel (21 and up only), get reservations a couple weeks ahead or very early in the morning. They open up some spots starting at the crack of dawn the day of.

Tatooine Sunset is totally refreshing on hot California days.

There are some Expensive and Impressive Souvenirs

From creating your own lightsaber to making a personal droid, the souvenirs don’t disappoint on the edge of the galaxy. I also loved the little creatures in cages or for sale through the outdoor market. It truly feels like you are on another planet haggling for goods (except the prices don’t drop.) You can even buy costumes and clothing fit for fighting against the First Order.

Now when you face the First Order in Disneyland, you will be ready! If these tips helped you in any way or you have something to add /edit, please let me know in the comments below. Thank you and may the force be with you!
